Okay so we’re still very much in the middle of a real pandemic. Although some of us want to scratch that itch to go, it’s best that you don’t to responsibly protect those around you. HOWEVER, some of us may need to travel for work or emergencies. In those rare cases that you have to fly, do so responsibly by traveling light! Let’s discuss the ways in which you can travel safely and pack the must have essentials in your carry-on. Because honestly… no one has time to do all of that check-in bag mess for a 1 week trip during a pandemic. 🤷🏾‍♀️

1. Prepare

The first thing I do is check the weather. It is important to know what your destination’s weather is like in order to pack accordingly.

2. Pack The Essentials and Build

So my rule of thumb when packing essentials is this: Your essentials should be able to pair back to ANYTHING. What pairs back to anything? 2 pairs of DENIM (jeans, shorts, skirt, or variation of two) and 3 pairs of shoes (flats, heels, and sneakers OR sandals) - this is why it’s important to first check the weather. With your 3 pairs of shoes you can absolutely do a different combination of the three but no more than 3. You are packing a carry-on. Can you imagine packing for paradise, and paradise is chilly? Be mindful of the weather!

3. Build Around Your Essentials

Now that you have your essentials down, add one more fun pant, skirt, or shorts. For your tops, choose based off the number of days of your vacation (5 days...5 tops). Again, base this off of the weather. There should be a 2:1 ratio. 2 tops to every 1 bottom.

4. Accessorize!

Don't forget those accessories! You can’t take your entire collection but pack the essentials of your accessories, meaning 2 sets that will go with everything.

5. How to pack it

Now that you have your looks, it’s time to pack it up! The absolute best space saver is to ROLL you pieces. The roll allows more room to pack for items you bought while on vacation! (and easier to organize. 😉)

Packing does not have to be a daunting task. All it takes is preparation and your execution will be simple. If you don’t have time to prepare, I can do that for you!
